20 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Need To End Their Franchises

12. Machete Kills...In Space

The Franchise: Robert Rodriguez directs these self-consciously cheesy exploitation B-movies, starring Danny Trejo in the role he was born to play, as the titular Mexican dispenser of justice. Two movies have been released to date, Machete and Machete Kills. Sequel Status: After Machete Kills bombed at the box office, pretty much nobody expected a third movie to get made, but as was teased in a fake trailer during that movie, Machete Kills...In Space will be happening (minus the original "Again" in the title), at least according to Trejo himself. Shooting is planned to take place later this year, presumably for release in 2016 sometime. Why It Needs To Be The Last One: It's pretty damn incredible that a third movie is even happening, and considering that the novelty was already wearing off in Machete Kills, this should probably be it. Does anyone really expect a third Machete movie to make much money? How Likely Is It?: Pretty likely, for sure. If this one flops (as it quite probably will), who will want to bankroll a fourth? 8/10.
