Why It's Going To Rock: TV Series It Was Based Upon Was Awesome For those living in the UK, we've already had a chance to glimpse the genius that is Michael Winterbottom's The Trip To Italy, the arguably unnecessary and yet somehow brilliantly essential sequel to the original BBC series, The Trip, which saw comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon playing fictionalised versions of themselves as they traversed around the North of England on a restaurant tour. The results were both poignant and hilarious. The six episodes that made up the original TV show were condensed down to a couple of hours for overseas distribution, marking The Trip as a movie of sorts for US viewers. And the same is set to be done for The Trip To Italy, which is set for release on August 15, which has the pair doing reprising much of the same arguments and improvisations and against a truly incredible backdrop. There's no way a film version could go wrong, really.
