20 Upcoming Movies That Made INSANE Casting Choices
9. Ariana Grande - Olivia Jones (Focker In-Law)
Because the long-dormant Meet the Parents franchise being dusted off in the year of our lord 2026 isn't weird enough, a major supporting role is going to be played by Ariana Grande.
Grande will reportedly play Olivia Jones, the "ball-busting" fiancée of Greg's (Ben Stiller) son Henry (Skyler Gisondo), and this will basically mark the first time that Grande has ever played a relatively "normal" human being in a film - as in, not someone who sings.
It's certainly not the most natural fit for Grande's strengths as we know them, then, but hopefully she'll join the pantheon of pop stars who've managed to prove their acting chops entirely removed from their musical talents.
On paper one might see Grande's casting as a cynical ploy to get more butts in seats - and regardless of her performance, it'll definitely work - and some will consider her too iconic to play a part this ordinary, but if she pulls it off many will surely be eager to see her in more diverse projects moving forward.
