20 Upcoming Movies That Made INSANE Casting Choices
1. Jim Caviezel - Jair Bolsonaro (Dark Horse)
And finally we have perhaps the most demented biopic casting in recent memory.
Jim Caviezel, of course still best known for playing Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, is next set to play ex-Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro in the drama Dark Horse.
Beyond the fact that Caviezel doesn't bear much of a natural resemblance to Bolsonaro, the film is additionally said to paint the fascist leader in a positive light - though given Caviezel's noted hard-right beliefs, that's not terribly surprising.
Caviezel is probably one of the few actors of note who would lend their name to a project like this, and so his casting makes sense to an extent, even if it's a completely deranged career move looking in from the outside.
B-roll footage from the shoot unsurprisingly looks terrible, and considering the script was written by Bolsonaro’s former culture minister Mário Frias, it's sure to be wildly divorced from reality.
This, apparently, is what happens when Mel Gibson decides not to bring you back for the Passion of the Christ sequels.
