20 Upcoming Movies That Might Be Surprisingly Good

M. Night Shyamalan is an absolute workhorse of a filmmaker, which likely partially explains why his filmography is so wildly uneven, pinballing from disappointing to effective mid-budget genre yarn at a moment's notice.
But his next film just might be the most bizarre of his career to date - a supernatural romantic thriller in which a man (Jake Gyllenhaal) mourning his sister's death crosses paths with a young woman (Phoebe Dynevor) who disrupts his entire world.
The big surprise here is that Shyamalan has co-written the film with novelist Nicholas Sparks, best known for writing treacly bestsellers The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and Message in a Bottle. Furthermore, Sparks has also already adapted Shyamalan's script into a companion novel.
Shyamalan and Sparks don't seem like a natural creative pairing at all, and yet this is one of those combinations that's just so peculiar it might end up producing something unexpectedly great, or in the very least interesting.
The fact that the particulars of the story are being kept feverishly under wraps only makes it that much more intriguing.
