The Death of Robin Hood release date: TBA 2026.

The Death of Robin Hood is the new film from rising filmmaker Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One) and offers up a unique, revisionist take on the mythology of its iconic title character.

This darker reimagining is said to revolve around an older, gravely wounded Robin Hood (Hugh Jackman) who reconsiders his past life of crime and murder while being nursed back to health by a mysterious woman (Jodie Comer).

As mainstream-skewing as a Robin Hood movie starring Jackman and Comer sounds on paper, the premise basically seems the polar opposite, offering up a more introspective take on a character typically known for his heroic, energetic, swashbuckling nature.

It'll be interesting to see if a more cerebral "Old Man Hood" story connects with audiences en masse, but after so many utterly pedestrian adaptations over the last 15 years, at least this one appears to be doing something genuinely different.
