After working with some of the boldest filmmakers in the business, Dev Patel will make his directorial debut for Netflix with Monkey Man, an action-thriller which the streamer has described as "John Wick in Mumbai."

That's quite the tease, and given that Patel has come into his own as a highly capable leading man in recent years, it's easy to imagine him fitting the part of a scrappy action hero like a glove.

Nothing about the plot is known at this point, but Patel will star opposite Sharlto Copley, who we can probably safely assume is going to play the villain.

If it's even a fraction as well-crafted as John Wick, Netflix could have another new franchise on their hands here.
