20 Worst Moments In Wizarding World Movies

9. Queenie And Jacob's Fight - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

Harry Potter
Warner Bros.

In this scene, Newt finds Jacob (Dan Fogler) and Queenie (Alison Sudol) at his London residence and discovers that the pair are planning to marry... or at least, sort of. Queenie has enchanted Jacob to make him more susceptible to suggestions such as this, which he'd previously refused because marriage between magic folk and Muggles is illegal and he wanted to keep Queenie safe.

Newt undoes the enchantment, the pair have a row and then Queenie leaves. This scene sucks on numerous levels.

Not only does it retcon Jacob's obliviation at the end of the first film (its greatest and most moving scene too) but it ruins what was a genuinely good film romance and makes Queenie, previously a good character, far less likeable. After all, her behaviour here does feel unethical at best and, at worst, downright creepy.

Another terrible bit of writing, then.
