20 Worst Movies Of 2016
5. Gods Of Egypt
Even without the heinous, unnecessary white-washing of the lead characters, Gods Of Egypt is an abject failure that was positively made for the early year dumping ground it was unceremoniously shunted into. It is the epitome of an over-blown, misguided turkey, taking a collection of otherwise likeable talent and saddling them with content so fundamentally broken that their charm is entirely washed away.
The film is pompous, over-blown and garish with a layer of polished, Liberace-like gloss that seeks to hide the fact that it's just a little bit vacuous under the surface. Had it been a little less serious, it might not have gone quite so quickly down the same po-faced road as Clash Of The Titans, and wouldn't have been such an intolerable waste of time and talent.
The writing is awful, the design is awful and the effects - which the director seems to have lots of confidence in - are awful. All-in-all then, awful.
