20 Worst Movies Of 2017

13. Monster Trucks

This really should have been one of those lucrative family-friendly movies that makes a load of money without being too offensive and gives whoever won the toy tie-in line a nice little sideline for a couple of years. But sadly, Monster Trucks was just a little too monstrous and nowhere near the usual quality of Ice Age director Chris Wedge.

The warning signs were all there too: the film was actually supposed to come out in 2015, but it was shunted back several times until Paramount basically just accepted they were going to take a massive hit on it and dumped it in the early year release window.

The problem with it - despite it being about an alien creature that basically wears a car as a suit to provide high-octane, silly fun - is that it's just nowhere near as fun as it ought to be. It's not funny, there's no heart and it painfully misses the ET vibe it should have aimed for.
