20 Worst Movies Of 2018
8. The Outsider

Let's get this straight, immediately: Jared Leto is a talented actor. He's done some incredible work over the years, but he seems to be headed into Johnny Depp territory where he can't modulate between supremely weird caricatures and "real" characters, meaning his more understated roles end up lacking any essential humanity.
In this Netflix Original thriller, he lacks any sort of charm (just as the movie does) as the film attempts to be all Only God Forgives-cool, which is a strange thing to aspire to when that was such an unwatchable mess too. It lacks nuance, character development or intrigue and you have to suspect that Leto spent a little too much time in the company of androids on Blade Runner 2049 and thought that's what humans should be like.
The writing is under-developed and cliched, it's hair-tearingly slow and it's another of those Netflix-only releases that makes you suspect it was dumped there because nobody else wanted it.
