19. Overboard

Sometimes, remakes are just plain baffling. You can understand when studios remake things that would be obvious money-spinners or which could benefit from updated film-making technology or just to right some wrong in the first attempt. Or maybe - like A Star Is Born - the story just deserves a new spin.

None of those apply to Overboard, the bland, unnecessary remake of the 1987 Kurt Russell-Goldie Hawn rom-com, but that didn't stop anyone from questioning whether they ought to make it. It comes with an update to make it less problematic (Anna Faris becomes the character seeking revenge by exploiting her boss' amnesia in place of Russell doing it to Hawn in the original).

All-in-all, it's just a charmless, boring nothing that fails entirely to justify its existence. It's also way too long, just to make it even better.
