20 Worst Movies Of 2019
19. Terminator: Dark Fate
It’s hard to think of a film franchise which has lost track of its roots quite so much as Terminator. Dark Fate isn’t a completely terrible movie, but it certainly doesn’t feel like a Terminator one.
Killing off John Connor early on earns full points for bravery and ambition, but only served to derail the film just as it began. Shock value only matters if you’re then able to do something with it. Here, Dark Fate tries to rip off what worked about the first two films, but in the process loses the heart.
It’s not as dull as some of the more recent Terminator movies, though it still doesn’t seem to know what it is and insists on over complicating things. It’s watchable if you’re just looking for an action movie to kill some time, but if you’re hoping this will save the Terminator franchise, you’ll be sorely disappointed.
