10. Ryan Gosling's Unexpectedly Heartfelt Speech
Ryan Gosling ended up winning the Best Actor Globe, and gave an excellent speech in a totally unexpected way.
He got the funny out of the way first, saying, "This isn't the first time I've been mistaken for Ryan Reynolds...Ryan obviously there's been some kind of mistake, but as I'm up here, if you don't mind...", and adding that he wants to share the award with co-star Emma Stone and writer-director Damien Chazelle, though will stop short of actually chopping it into three pieces.
He ended his speech by thanking his wife Eva Mendes for raising their first child, being pregnant with their second and supporting her terminally ill brother while he shot La La Land, in one of the night's most unexpectedly heartfelt moments. Gosling ended the speech by dedicating the Globe to Mendes's late brother. A class act.
