It might not have the same sort of brand recognition as the other films on this list among Western audiences, but Indian black comedy crime thriller Andhadhun delighted fans who got to see it.

Co-written and directed by Sriram Raghavan, it's the tale of a piano player who unwillingly becomes embroiled in the murder of a former film actor and won four of Bollywood's biggest awards. Given its limited run in cinemas, it took only $15m (though it was still profitable), but that makes the high rating all the more impressive.
