20 Recent Box Office Flops Everyone Saw Coming

Jackass has been an impressively consistent franchise at the box office, largely thanks to the reality comedy series' low-budget conception, ensuring the first five films in the franchise have collectively grossed over $550 million globally on a budget of barely $60 million.

Yet there was an unmistakable feeling of perfunctoriness about the latest installment, Jackass: Best and Last, which smacked of one last effort to milk the cash cow before Johnny Knoxville and his beloved band of boneheads hung it all up for good.

This was unaided by the news shortly before the film's release that Best and Last would mix new stunts with footage of classic ones, enough that some critics called it a glorified clip show.

And while the sequel received broadly positive reviews overall, it failed to bring out the series' reliable fans, who perhaps being aware how little original footage was in the movie decided to wait for streaming instead.

Though its low $10 million budget keeps the film from being a financial disaster, its current $27 million gross makes it the lowest-grossing Jackass since the first, which topped out at a respectable $79.5 million.
