20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You

After almost a full decade of speculation, a sequel to 2014's indie horror hit It Follows was finally confirmed in 2023, with original filmmaker David Robert Mitchell and star Maika Monroe both set to return.

The natural assumption is that the film will pick up with Monroe's Jay years later as the Entity continues to pursue her, though Monroe has suggested that fans should certainly expect the unexpected.

Monroe, who has read the script, called it "bigger and darker and more f**ked up," but also called it "very different" from the first film, and that where the sequel finds Jay is not what most people will be anticipating.

That's certainly a fun little tease that refreshingly tells us very little about the story. 

Needless to say, after over a decade of waiting expectations are extremely high for They Follow to deliver a worthy successor to one of the most distinctive horror films of the 2010s.

In the very least, it seems like Mitchell won't just be serving up the same thing again.
