9. Tony Stark Is A Doctor Doom Variant - Avengers: Doomsday
The big mystery surrounding Avengers: Doomsday is the fascinating, polarising casting of Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Victor von Doom, with a common assumption being that Doom will be an evil variant of Tony Stark.
But there's an altogether more interesting and subversive theory that, in fact, it's the other way around, and the MCU's Tony Stark who sacrificed himself in Avengers: Endgame is actually a variant of Victor von Doom.
While it'd require a possibly convoluted explanation of Victor being adopted by the Starks as a baby, on a character level it's decidedly more interesting than having Doom simply be a Tony Stark variant.
Instead, Tony being a Doom variant makes him an even more singular character, and it would also make Downey's return seem a little less cynical.
This theory's so good, in fact, that it'll be hugely disappointing if the Russo Brothers don't go this route.
