20 Wild Theories For Upcoming Movies
4. Ryan Gosling Is Cade Skywalker, Amy Adams Is Mara Jade - Star Wars: Starfighter
Star Wars fans are seemingly incapable of accepting the existence of wholly original new characters in the franchise, so of course any vaguely mysterious, unnamed character in an upcoming project is assumed to be an existing legacy mainstay.
And in the case of next year's Star Wars: Starfighter, there are some persistent theories about who Ryan Gosling and Amy Adams might be playing.
Some fans are convinced that Gosling's character is actually Cade Skywalker, a direct descendant of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in the Star Wars Legends continuity.
As for Amy Adams? Some believe she'll be playing fan favourite character Mara Jade, who is the wife of Luke Skywalker and mother of their son Ben - again, in the Legends continuity.
Neither of these theories seem hugely likely, though, for one that Cade's story unfolds more than 100 years after Return of the Jedi, and we know that Starfighter is set only 30-or-so years after it.
Mara Jade makes no sense either, because Amy Adams and Mark Hamill would be wholly age-inappropriate as a romantic pairing.
Much as Star Wars fans want to will these casting theories into existence, it seems that Starfighter is more likely a largely standalone installment - and why the heck not?
