20 Recent Movie Rumours That Were Total BULL
16. It's A Secret Cloverfield Movie - The End of Oak Street
The Rumour:
An extremely popular theory was that David Robert Mitchell's new film The End of Oak Street was a secret entry into the Cloverfield franchise.
For one, it was a sci-fi mystery film produced by J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot label, which have produced all three existing Cloverfield movies.
Beyond that, its original title "Flowervale Street" is very Cloverfield-coded, while the film's narrative was kept tightly under wraps during shooting, which would make sense if it were indeed a Cloverfield movie.
And on top of all this, the central family share the same surname as Cloverfield's ill-fated character Hud (T.J. Miller) - Pratt.
The Truth:
It's easy to see why so many believed this because it made a whole ton of sense from a commercial standpoint, but The End of Oak Street is really just a totally standalone sci-fi story about a suburban neighbourhood being transported from 1982 into the age of dinosaurs.
