Notable offenders: Child's Play (1988), Poltergeist (1982), Annabelle (2014) Dolls have been a part of humankind since prehistoric times. However it wasn't until the horror genre came about that we realized just how creepy the things could actually be. Starting with 1958's Puppet People to this year's Annabelle. There is just something about a seemingly lifeless little piece of plastic that can easily freak out the seemingly toughest person you know. Fun fact: Tom Holland's Child's Play was apparently based on a true story. Chucky was actually based in part on a real-life, 104-year-old doll known as Robert the Doll. The pint-sized chunk of straw-stuffed clothing and cloth was alleged to be possessed by evil spirits that terrorized every family that was unfortunate enough to come into possession of the devilish toy. How true is this? It doesn't matter, the psychological damage is already done.
