23 X-Men Movie Mistakes You Probably Missed

9. Magneto Is An Idiot - X-Men: The Last Stand

Magneto is basically supposed to be the greatest foe in the X-Men universe - in the original trilogy at least - with fearsome powers that are pretty much only comparable in Professor X himself, who seems more content with not using his powers to their maximum potential even when it would be really, really helpful.

But despite the majesty of his projected image, Magneto really isn't all that, especially by the time The Last Stand comes around: he might be all-powerful, but he is far from the greatest strategist known to mutant-kind, as he proves during the assault on Alcatraz, when he steals some of the Golden Gate Bridge to repurpose as a bridge to the high-security unit, in order to march his mutant army across against the lab.

The problem is, he then leaves the bridge intact, and basically gives the US miltary a handy bridge to battle the mutants, instead of just collapsing the bridge to cover their tracks and make counter-offence mostly impossible.
