Based on a true story, Child 44 is set in 1950s Soviet Union, in which Hardy stars as a military policeman under pressure from Stalin's government for investigating a series of gruesome child murders when there supposedly is no crime. Plus Points The cast, obviously, and the concept is a major plus. The Reservations... It might well be the grimmest film of the year, if it is actually released in the originally slated window of late 2014. As of yet, that's not yet certain.
