25 Best Anime Supervillains Of All Time
9. Blackbeard - One Piece
No piece of pirate fiction will ever put the same spins on its most famous characters like One Piece has, and we can best it will be difficult to best their reimagining of the legendary Blackbeard.
Marshall D. Teach is larger-than-life and one of the Yonko, a group of the five most powerful pirate captains in the One Piece universe.
Not only that, but his strength is evidenced by the fact he’s the only known individual to have two Devil Fruit powers. He stole the Gura Gura no Mi fruit powers from the corpse of his former mentor, Whitebeard, allowing him to create destructive earthquakes, while the Yami Yami no Mi’s power of darkness acts like a black hole.
Blackbeard innocuously meets Luffy in his One Piece debut, but we eventually appreciate his power as he ascends to become the primary antagonist of the series—and a great villain at that.
Plus, it’s friggin’ Blackbeard.
