The government cover-up/conspiracy aspect of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’s storyline is one of its most engaging themes, and at the top of that facade sits the Homunculus Führer Bradley.

Wrath, as he was created, is the eyepatch-wearing head of state hiding a graveyard’s worth of skeletons in his closet—real ones, too—and while he may not be as old as Father, he still beats him on the super villain scale.

Bradley convinced this writer of his cool even before we learn his Homunculus origins. He starts the series off like Magnum P.I. with an eyepatch and ends it as Magnum P.I. with an eyepatch who it also turns out has ridiculous ninja reflexes, sword skills and a demonic eye with powers.

Wrath performs a critical role as the meticulously planned head of Amestris, and only after watching the show through fully can we appreciate how sinister his faux friendship is at show’s start.

Ed Blaylock is a superb choice to voice Bradley. He has a tone that demands respect, comes over as warming and friendly, but can then turn and becomes a threat in an instant. Those are the many sides of Wrath.
