25 Brilliant Gore-Fest Movies You Need To See Before You Die

3. Cannibal Holocaust

Cannibal Holocaust
United Artists

It's one of the most famous entries on this list, and for good reason: Cannibal Holocaust is notable not just for its graphic depictions of gore, but also for the questionable practices that director Ruggero Deodato employed to create the film.

Featuring real scenes of animal cruelty and extreme sexual violence (for its time) led many to accuse Deadato of creating a snuff film in which its actors were genuinely murdered on-screen. They weren't, but it gives credence to how talented the film's make up and special effect crew were.
