Hardly surprising that the opening entry on a list such as this turns out to be a zombie film: Zombie Flesh Eaters is just as gruesome and overly-gory as any of George A. Romero's flicks.

Taking place upon the zombie-infested island of Matool, Anne Bowles and her friends depart to investigate the locale after her father goes missing there. As far as gore goes in zombie films, Flesh Eaters is pretty standard horror, but props go to an excellently grotesque eye-gouging scene.
