Plot: Five years after Hiccup and Toothless united vikings and dragons together, they go on an adventure that leads to the discovery of an ice cave that houses hundreds of wild dragons. The duo then find themselves in a battle to protect the peace. For the longest time, it seemed Dreamworks Animation was stuck playing second fiddle to Pixar Studios. Throughout the 2000s, Pixar was the class of 3D animation. Their movies were funny and they tugged at the heartstrings. Dreamworks's films, in general, have not been taken as seriously. The Shrek movies did ogre-sized business in the box office, but overall their movies tend to be sillier and goofier than what Pixar came out with in the last decade. So, when How to Train Your Dragon came out in 2010 to near-universal praise and collected nearly $500 million, that was when critics and audiences combined started to sit up and take notice. Kung Fu Panda hinted at this direction, but it was How to Train Your Dragon that really showcased how well Dreamworks can hold their own. Now the second How to Train Your Dragon film sees the first film's co-director, Dean DeBlois, returning to the franchise. Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, and Jonah Hill have also returned to reprise their roles. With there being hardly any competition in the family film department, all signs are pointing to How to Train Your Dragon 2 becoming a gigantic success.
