25 Films That Intentionally Spoil Other Films
9. The Fall Guy (2024)
Ryan Gosling vehicle The Fall Guy brought the ABC action series to the big screen the year before last, with a whole new cast and premise. This time, rather than moonlighting as bounty hunters, stuntman Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) and his director ex-girlfriend Jodie Moreno (Emily Blunt) are drawn into a conspiracy surrounding their latest film’s lead actor, Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who has gone missing.
After many fight sequences and setpieces, Colt manages to get to the heart of the issue: Tom accidentally killed his most recent stunt double, and has been hiding out while trying to frame Colt for the murder. All of this leads to a climactic on-set sequence, in which Colt traps Tom and has him confess on microphone to the murder. And, surprise, surprise, it involves a big stunt sequence.
Colt has Tom strapped into his stunt car with him and takes him for an extreme ride ending in a crazy, possibly impossible jump. Colt tells Tom that it’s fitting for the old partners to go this way, just like Ridley Scott’s Thelma & Louise (1991), to which Tom replies, "Thelma and Louise? They die at the end!" Indeed, they do.
