25 Greatest Easter Eggs From The Last 20 Years Of Horror

20. Dawn Of The Dead

Picture the scene: Ana (Sarah Polley) is hightailing it, pretty much to anywhere that doesn't have brain-chomping zombies. After all, her house has two zombies running riot in it: one her pint-sized neighbour, the other her husband. As she drives all over the road like she€™s been at the furniture polish, the camera cuts to a wide angle.

This Egg here is so subtle that only the biggest Dead fans are likely to have clocked it. As she slaloms down the road, the camera tracking her in a bird€™s eye view shot, a truck veers off-road and hurtles into the pumps at a gas station, before blowing up. This small action piece directly references a comment made by Ben in the original Night Of The Living Dead, who mentions being sat in his car outside a gas station-diner when a huge truck smashed into the petrol pumps.

It€™s not just a cool nod to George Romero€™s original, but the possibility that in Zack Snyder€™s version of events, the first outing and the sequel took place together.
