25 Greatest Easter Eggs From The Last 20 Years Of Horror

19. Urban Legend

A spin-off of the slasher trend sparked by Scream, Urban Legend drops the meta and instead opts for straight-up scares, with admittedly limited impact and appeal. The unique twist here is that the killer€™s inspiration isn€™t horror movies, it€™s urban legends, as the title kind of gave away...

Playing it by the books doesn€™t mean the filmmakers gave up on dropping a few hidden messages for their more academic viewers though, and the killer€™s identity is revealed at many points during the film, if you look closely. The crest for Pendleton University, the college in which all the stabbings take place, includes a small motto beneath. In English it reads: the best friend did it. It€™s a huge spoiler, giving the game away way before the final reel. See for yourself on the sleeve of campus security officer Wilson (Loretta Devine.)

An obvious, but still clever Egg - as long as you can read Latin, that is.
