25 Greatest Easter Eggs From The Last 20 Years Of Horror

18. Cloverfield

JJ Abrams keeps his worlds bound together tightly, and all of his movies and TV shows often find simple ways of weaving in tiny details to indicate they exist within a similar universe. For example, before Cloverfield even begins, a test card appears on screen for a moment indicating the tape you€™re about to watch is property of the U.S. government. In the bottom right hand corner sits the Dharma Initiative logo - the super top secret organisation made popular in his sci-fi island adventure, Lost. Of course it does.

But in case you€™ve heard of that before there€™s another factor connecting Cloverfield to Alias, Fringe, Super 8, even Heroes (a tenuous link forged by Abrams€™ friendship with star Greg Grunberg) and Star Trek that proves they all share a reality. It€™s a soda. Specifically, Slusho.

Characters in Fringe, Alias, Heroes, Super 8 all chug down on the icy pop beverage. Heck, in Star Trek when Uhura€™s at the bar the bartender asks if she wants the Slusho mix in her drink.

The pop also makes an appearance in Cloverfield; seeing as it€™s Rob€™s leaving party, there€™s barely a soft drink in sight, but his brother Jason Hawkins wears a Slusho shirt throughout the movie.
