#11 - $1.108 billion Despite being one of the longest running franchise of all-time, Skyfall (the twenty third James Bond movie) was the first to reach $1 billion at the box office. Casino Royale had helped put the dated series back on the map, but it was Sam Mendes who really put Daniel Craig's 007 on the map. A reboot of sorts, Skyfall brought back much of what people loved about the James Bond movies before they got all moody and serious. It felt like a breath of fresh air, and while the sometimes campy tone clashed with the seriousness that was brought over from Casino Royale, Skyfall worked really well. Dethroning Avatar as the most successful film ever released in the UK, Skyfall also did great numbers overseas and quickly reached the $1 billion mark, much to the surprise of some. Now, the pressure is on Spectre to perform just as well later this year (chances are it will thanks to the return of Mendes and Craig).
