Roger Moore has played James Bond in seven official films, which is the world record. This is astounding considering how many things went wrong with him during his time in the franchise.

First off, Moore suffers hoplophobia, which is a fear of guns. Moore ruined many takes since he visibly shakes every time he fires his gun. Moore also required a stuntman for running scenes since he had “an awkward run.”

While working on the boat scene in Live and Let Die, he cracked his teeth and twisted his ankle. He was hospitalised with kidney stones and dysentery throughout production.

He suffered shingles while filming The Spy Who Loved Me. Production on Moonraker was nearly shut down after Moore developed kidney stones once more.

He nearly quit the franchise entirely in 1983 after he was diagnosed with heart problems. A second doctor confirmed this was a misdiagnosis and Moore was healthy enough to continue working.

Considering his phobias, inability to run properly, and ill health, it is a mystery how Moore won the role in the first place.
