25 Most Hotly Anticipated Movies Of Summer 2015

17. Vacation

Vacation 2015
Warner Bros.

Release Date: 31st July

Almost 20 years since the last official Vacation film with Chevy Chase (nobody should count the Cousin Eddie TV spin-off), the Griswolds return for a last-minute trip to Walley World before it closes forever.

Rather than following patriarch Clark, this time it's Rusty (all grown up and looking just like Ed Helms) and his family (including brother-in-law Chris Hemsworth) who go cross country. Chase, inevitably, appears in what is assumed to be a cameo.

Selling Point

The chance to go on holiday with the Griswolds again shouldn't be taken lightly and the film could well be exactly the sort of nostalgic comic gem that worked so well for 21 Jump Street.

And despite everything, National Lampoon - like Chevy Chase - is one of those brands you just really want to see work.

Reservations

It's been a long time since National Lampoon was really a thing: since then a lot of water has passed under the bridge and presumably been retained by Chevy Chase. Even with a new cast, getting the magic exactly right (and try telling fans that that isn't exactly what's necessary) is going to be tough.
