Hype: Currently sitting on 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from the early reviews, Arrival is a must-see experience (it's not an accident, there are 40 reviews listed). The high concept is particularly intriguing (particularly as it reclaims the genre from the likes of the mind-boggling stupidity of Independence Day: Resurgence.

And while there is a conventional romance involved, the narrative journey - which will inevitably be likened to Gravity thanks to similar story points - is still well worth taking. Plus, of course, Amy Adams is wonderfully watchable in whatever she's in.
