25 Most Powerful Comic Book Movie Villains

11. Sandman (Spider-Man 3)

Sandman Flint Marko had his genes blended together with sand when he was hiding from the police in a gigantic chamber filled with sand at a remote testing facility. Marko didn't know it at the time, but he had walked in to an experiment that was testing if sand could protect against radiation. Marko's attempts at hiding were successful, but the sand was blasted with radiation and he became the Sandman. Being composed of sand and having the ability to merge with sand doesn't sound like that powerful of an ability, but when you see the extent of what he can do with it you realise that it really is. In the movie, it rendered him pretty much immune to physical harm - Spider-Man's punches just went right through him and left him completely unscathed - while he could solidify his body parts to use them as blunt weapons which made his own punches so much more dangerous. But it was when he came in to contact with lots of other sand at a building site that his powers really shone. He merged with it and became a gargantuan sand-monster which was capable of battering Spider-Man like a newspaper swatting a fly and was only temporarily subdued by a Pumpkin Bomb which broke him apart.
