Unsurprisingly, getting Jim Carrey to look as great as he does in the movie was no easy feat, and required an insane four hours in the makeup chair, applying prosthetics and fully selling the transformation that the mask allows.

For an actor as famously jittery and energetic as Carrey, that must've been nothing short of hell - let alone the poor makeup department who had to keep him still.

And here's another fun tidbit - the comically over-large teeth worn by The Mask were originally only supposed to be used during scenes where the character isn't required to speak.

However, Carrey found himself able to speak with them in, and so they were made a permanent part of his "attire."
