Speaking of Wesley Snipes; years before he played the human-vampire hybrid Blade, the actor had his sights set on another Marvel property. The actor was the first major Hollywood star to push for a comic book movie franchise with a black male lead. In 1992 he announced his intentions to make a live-action movie based on the Marvel Comics character T'Challa aka The Black Panther. This was years before comic book movies became the hottest thing in Hollywood. Development on the Black Panther movie continued throughout the '90s and into the early '00s, but due to the success of the Blade franchise, Snipes was no longer thought to be viable in the title role. With a Black Panther movie finally (and officially) on the way, with Chadwick Boseman playing the titular role, let's hope that Marvel allows Snipes to be involved on at least some level. The guy's earned it!
