After playing the title character in 2004's The Punisher; Thomas Jane almost made the move from Marvel to DC when he showed interest in starring in the western comic book movie Jonah Hex. The actor even had himself photographed in costume complete with special makeup to recreate the character's massive facial scarring. Josh Brolin ultimately took the role and the film ended up being disastrous with both critics and at the box-office. A few years ago Jane spoke to MTV about the film:
"The script that I read was totally different than the movie they ended up doing," he explained. "I think once Josh Brolin came on board, they changed directors and they changed writers and it turned into a whole different animal. The movie I would've done was a completely different animal."
Perhaps ironically, Megan Fox initially turned down the part of Lilah in the film but changed her mind once the script was rewritten. Interesting.
