30 Horror Movie Survivors Who Probably Wished They'd Died

Another grim trend when it comes to horror survivors is that of them being re-traumatized. They'll often be dealing with some sort of psychological wound prior to the main story, only to discover that they're about to go through something even worse.

A good example of this is Brent (Xavier Samuel), the star of The Loved Ones, a deeply effed-up Australian horror flick. Six months before the main story, Brent had been driving his father and had swerved to avoid a bloodied man, leading to the car crashing into a tree and killing his father. The poor kid was already struggling with suicidal thoughts, and then, through no fault of his own, he's thrown into a new nightmare.

Before the prom, fellow classmate Lola (Robin McLeavy) asks Brent out to the dance, and he politely turns her down; not unreasonably, as he does happen to have a girlfriend. Well, as bad luck would have it, Lola is a psychotic killer, and she kidnaps Brent so that she and her equally deranged father can torture and lobotomize him.

Thankfully, Brent does survive, and so does his (very likable) girlfriend Holly (Victoria Thaine), who was shown to be a good, supportive partner to him. Still, after two life-ruining experiences in the space of a year, Brent has evidently got a tough road ahead.
