30 Horror Movie Survivors Who Probably Wished They'd Died

Ali Rey (Molly Ephraim) is in a similar category to the aforementioned Hannah from The Collector, as she survived an attack on her household but lost everything in the process.

In Paranormal Activity 2, a mediocre prequel/sequel that nevertheless improves upon its predecessor, Ali is the daughter of Kristi and Daniel Rey (Sprague Grayden and Brian Boland, respectively), and the niece of Katie (Katie Featherston), the protagonist of the first film. 

As this sequel explains, the family starts being haunted by a demon. To save them, Daniel (against Ali's wishes) uses a ritual to pass the demon on to Katie, thus setting up the events of the original film. He thought this desperate action would save them... not at all. 

The closing scenes of this sequel reveal that immediately after the end of the original Paranormal Activity, the possessed Katie went back to the Rey house, killed Kristi and Daniel, and then kidnapped their infant son Hunter before vanishing into the night. Ali, who was away on a school trip (as the closing titles explain), is spared, but she was the one who found the bodies and discovered Hunter missing. 

Just imagine what that would do to a young person? You know what, maybe not. It's too upsetting to think about.
