30 Horror Movie Survivors Who Probably Wished They'd Died

8. Oculus - Tim Russell

Tim Russell (Brenton Thwaites), the co-lead of Mike Flanagan's impressive debut horror Oculus, is yet another character who went through the worst hell imaginable. In this case, it was courtesy of a terrifying supernatural mirror that beat him and his sister not just once, but twice.

The movie unfolds across two different timelines, and it cuts between them before eventually culminating in both of Tim's tragic fates being edited together to harrowing effect. As a child and as an adult, he is imprisoned for murder when, in fact, the mirror was responsible for everything he's accused of. In the case of the present-day timeline, Tim had only just been let out of prison, and, tragically, when he and his sister (Karen Gillan) try to destroy the mirror, this ends with him accidentally killing her.

Tim probably wouldn't have been freed again, so he was facing a lifetime locked up for murders he didn't commit, while that mirror is intact to continue torturing any luckless sod who comes across it. Horror movie endings don't get much darker than this.
