Billed As: Basically the opposite of Rocky. This is the story of former world champion Roberto Duran who beat Sugar Ray Leonard at The Brawl In Montreal" and promptly gave up in the rematch.

Hype: The film is based on a hugely compelling story: Duran's rise to fame and notoriety is almost cliched it's so typical of a sports movie. He was raised in a slum in Panama, started fighting young and cut a career as one of the greatest of all time. The surprise of his retirement during the rematch with Leonard was the crowning moment on his career and it's a great centre-piece for a film.

There is another Boxing With Adversity film (Bleed For This) coming, but this story looks slightly more compelling (watch both, though), and the cast of the always intense Edgar Ramirez alongside Robert De Niro, Usher, Ellen Barkin and John Turturro is a real stand-out.

And there's always just something about watching the great sport of boxing that suits movies.
