30 Truly Awful Lines That Ruined Comic Book Movies

14. "Now Leonard, your Uncle Lex, with this protoplasm that I've grown from Superman's hair cells... will duplicate creation itself!" - Superman IV

Expositional and ludicrous at the same time, Lex Luthor's plan in Superman IV: The Quest For Peace has roughly zero basis in actual scientific fact. He clones Nuclear Man from a strand of Superman's hair, cooking him in the sun, and the result is a fully grown, and fully dressed superhero who looks literally nothing like Superman. That's bad enough, but the whole set-up for the Nuke's introduction is littered with this laboured, hokey dialogue as the writers and Lex furiously insist that they know what they're talking about.

13. "Nice Coat" - Batman Begins

Another silly aside quip for Nolan's Batman, this time as the Bat pauses to remark on a tramp's get-up, which was given to him by Bruce Wayne earlier in the film. The stupidity of the moment, which is played for a cheap laugh (and doesn't land it) is its biggest annoyance, because there is literally no need for the line at all.
