30 Truly Awful Lines That Ruined Comic Book Movies

16. "You're gonna pay for this. It's not over yet. I'll gum you to death. I'll bite you." - Spawn

Spawn is just about the guiltiest pleasure any comic book movie fan could ever admit to: it is poorly written, stuffed full of ham and mostly very badly executed. Judged on most film-making merits, it fails, but there is some fun to be had in the stupidity, even if awful lines like Clown's defiant sign-off above are stark reminders that the script is utterly amateur.

15. "Well, what would you prefer? Yellow spandex?" - X-Men

Another on the nose self-parody moment that achieves very little other than to reduce an iconic element of the source - this time the outfits that have been more a part of the X-Men universe than anything added to the cinematic adaptations. These self-conscious quips are nothing more than the upstart arrogance of the new kings, ignoring the respect they should be showing, and even more crucially poking fun at fans of the source who will be flocking to see how the new adaptation works. Nice work.
