5. Ridley Scott Mocks The Martian Winning The Best Comedy Award
Ricky Gervais made constant jibes throughout the night about The Martian's dubious stature as a "comedy", and when director Ridley Scott took to the stage to accept its win for Best Comedy Film, he said, "Comedy?" and jokingly wavered his hand, before expressing his gratitude nevertheless. Yes, the blatant category fraud that goes on in the Golden Globes is utterly ridiculous, but at least it meant that The Martian got to win two awards rather than be steamrolled in the Drama category.
