36. The Girl In The Spider's Web

Despite David Fincher initially saying he wanted to make both The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, "back to back", progress on follow-ups to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has been sluggish to say the least. Unfortunately, Fincher is now gone, those sequels are dead and the landscape has changed.

Luckily for fans, Sony has now decided the best approach is to jump the series forward with an adaptation of David Lagercrantz's fourth Millennium title, The Girl In The Spider's Web. Rooney Mara is also gone, having played Lisbeth Salander so well opposite Daniel Craig, with a whole new cast incoming for Don't Breathe director Fede Alvarez.

Even with all the changes, the characters are compelling enough to inspire excitement, and Alvarez is an extremely talented director.
