5 Best Movie Soundtracks Of The 1990s

4. Forrest Gump (1994)

Gump Like "Dazed and Confused," "Forrest Gump"'s soundtrack was on two discs. But they were released together as a two-disc set. When my parents got divorced, my dad kept one disc and my mom kept the other. Despite having only one song on the soundtrack itself, the artist with the most songs is The Doors. A lot of the songs (not just by The Doors) make very brief appearances. The Doors even get their own montage with Forrest Gump playing ping pong. Gump later goes running with Jackson Browne's "Running On Empty," Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way," and others. He and Bubba arrive at camp with "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" by The Four Tops, "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, and "Sloop John B." by The Beach Boys. They later go on foot with Jimi Hendrix ("All Along the Watchtower") and The Doors ("Soul Kitchen"). The holidays are celebrated with "Everybody's Talkin'" by Harry Nillson. And Jenny meets cocaine and heroin with "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Love Her Madly" by The Doors, and "Get Down Tonight" by KC & the Sunshine Band. So many more, but a few of them are Buffalo Springfield, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, and The Doobie Brothers. And a couple of folk songs, "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas & the Papas and "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel.
