5 Creepiest Bartenders In Horror Movies

1. Lloyd (Joe Turkel) - The Shining

And now to the top slot, who else could it be but Lloyd? The Shining's spirit-pouring spirit. Lloyd truly exemplifies the qualities of a perfect bartender, a fact made clear by his sterling reputation. As Nicholson's Jack Torrance says: "The best goddamn bartender from Timbuktu to Portland, Maine, or Portland Oregon for that matter.''

That Lloyd might be a ghost or possibly a figment of Jack's shattered psyche is irrelevant - he still fulfils his role with more class and professionalism than any other on this list. Lloyd dresses the part (his blazer/bowtie combo outShining that of even Hellraiser's Rick) and keeps his workspace immaculate, whether the night is slow or busy. Most crucially Lloyd knows his customers too. Notice how he instantly recognises Jack, greets him warmly and even remembers his tipple of choice - bourbon on the rocks.

Lloyd also presents a Shining example of the bartender as counsellor or therapist, a trait not demonstrated by the other contenders on this list. Can you imagine Razor Charlie patiently listening to anyone's personal woes? When Lloyd dispenses a hokey platitude "Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em,'' it's more to emphasise that he's listening, although back in his heyday of 1921 that might've been a new one.

By the evidence seen here we can assume Lloyd's tip jar is always brimming with cash and that he probably gets a lot of mentions in the afterlife's equivalent of Yelp reviews.
